I was first introduced to Asian Medicine, while I was working as a chemist in an environmental laboratory in the late 80’s. One of my colleagues was working on his credentials at the time and I mentioned that I had canker sores; he told me that this was due to stress and offered to treat me with acupuncture. I declined his offer, as it was something new and foreign to me; but I did accept herbs from him, something more more tangible to me, which helped resolve the mouth sores completely. The seed was planted, and a few years later I was immersed in the ideas and theories of Traditional Chinese Medicine while Anne was pursuing her degree. While she was an intern, I got to finally experience acupuncture for the treatment of allergies, and pain and was surprised how well it works. Soon, I found myself enrolling at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine; needless to say we didn’t see much of each other for 8 years. Since then I haven’t looked back and I have enjoyed the challenge of helping others regain and maintain their health.
